John,

Imagine being sent to a country where you don't know anyone, don't speak the language and could be persecuted or even tortured.

It's horrifying—and it's happening right now.

The Trump administration is speeding up deportations—giving people as little as 6 hours' notice before they're sent to countries with which they have no ties.

These rushed "third country" removals strip away fundamental due process legal protections, denying individuals even the chance to explain why they fled their home country.

At the same time, the Trump administration has moved to revoke humanitarian parole and Temporary Protected Status (TPS)—critical programs that have provided a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of people fleeing violence in Haiti, Ukraine, Afghanistan and other crisis zones around the world.

Let's make one thing very clear: Seeking safety is not a crime. It's a fundamental human right.

All people, regardless of where they're from, must be treated with dignity and humanity. The IRC is working to uphold due process for non-citizens by providing legal services, challenging harmful policies and educating the public.
