Friend, here's what most people don't see when they think of teaching: We have to be ready for anything, at any time.
In the middle of a lesson, an alarm sounds, and I immediately lock the door. My students know what to do — they scramble behind desks, silence their phones, hold their breath. I stay steady because if I show fear, they'll feel it too. And together, we rehearse for the unthinkable: what to do if someone with a gun enters our classroom.
This isn't hypothetical. This is the reality I live with every day. And as mass shootings outpace every year of Trump's last term, I worry more and more about the safety of my students — and what I would do to protect them.

Thankfully, Brady is actively fighting for common-sense gun safety legislation that is proven to save lives. And you can help them reach their goal of 50 new monthly donors before midnight. Thanks to a generous group of donors, every contribution will be MATCHED through the end of the year toward Brady's fight against gun violence — up to $50,000.

I became a teacher to inspire, not to shield kids from bullets. Sadly, just the other week, we witnessed the tragic loss of two young students and the injury of more than a dozen more in Minneapolis.
It's up to all of us to take a stand against gun violence and push for the protection of our children. And one of the best ways we can do that is by backing Brady in this critical moment so that they have the resources they need to keep fighting in Congress, in the courts, and in communities across the country.
That's why I'm asking: Will you join me in fighting for a future where kids can learn without fear? If you make a monthly gift by midnight on 9/10, your donations will be MATCHED all year long — up to $50,000.

Thank you for believing in a safer future for our kids.

P.S. If you're not ready to commit to a monthly gift, you can still make an immediate impact with a one-time donation today. Every dollar helps keep kids safe from the horrors of gun violence.
