A weekly wrap of ADL’s reports, updates and analysis on antisemitism around the world.

TODAY IS 9/11

On September 11, 2001, the world was forever changed. Members of Al-Qaeda perpetrated the deadliest act of terror in U.S. history.

Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the nearly 3,000 people who were killed 24 years ago today. May their memories forever be a blessing.

According to a new survey just released by ADL and the Academic Engagement Network, some of the key drivers of the antisemitism faced by Jewish faculty on U.S. college campuses are their fellow faculty, university staff and administrators. In these situations, Jewish-identifying faculty report being targeted by peers and colleagues in boycott, smear and doxxing campaigns.

As one faculty member said: “This is as bad as it gets. This has been a multi-prong attack on me because I stood up regularly against antisemitism on campus.” Significantly, 38 percent reported feeling a need to hide their Jewish and/or Zionist identity on campus. ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt called for more support for these embattled educators: “Universities must recognize that academic excellence cannot thrive when faculty members are marginalized based on their identity.”

Hill Hearings on Antisemitism in Education: The U.S. House Education and Workforce Committee hosted hearings titled “From Playground to Classroom: The Spread of Antisemitism in K-12 Schools” and “Unmasking Union Antisemitism.” ADL appreciates the Committee’s focus on the growing crisis of antisemitism in education that undermines the safety and integrity of our schools. There must be more support for Holocaust education to teach about the importance of confronting antisemitism and hate; adequate funds for the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights; resources and training for administrators and educators to ensure they promptly respond to
incidents of antisemitic harassment; and mechanisms to hold educators and unions accountable if their actions normalize antisemitism or delegitimize Jewish identity. You can see

MAKING PROGRESS WITH ADL

Taking Stock of Our Impact on Corporations: Following the launch of its Jewish advocacy ETF (exchange-traded fund), ADL-affiliated JLens conducted an impactful first proxy season — the period from April to June when most large U.S. public companies hold their annual meetings and investors can have their say on a company’s behavior, policy and leadership. Our voices were heard loud and clear:

- On behalf of Jewish institutional and individual investors, JLens cast proxy votes on over 4,700 proposals on more than 360 company ballots.
- JLens filed a proposal on Meta’s ballot, supporting stronger protections against antisemitism and hate across its social media platforms. It was the top-performing human rights-related proposal of the 2025 proxy season, receiving the support of 46.8% of independent shareholders and signaling to the company that its investors care about this issue.
- JLens also successfully campaigned against anti-Israel shareholder proposals filed at Intel, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and Alphabet that sought to deprive Israel of defense and technology tools. All proposals received low shareholder support of less than 10%.

Keep Synagogues Safe This High Holiday Season. We must act now to keep our Jewish institutions, schools and houses of worship safe. The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) is essential for helping houses of worship and other institutions add urgently needed protection. Current funding levels are insufficient, leaving many institutions vulnerable. Congress must act now. We need at least $500 million in NSGP funding.

This week, at a hearing on antisemitism, the Chicago Commission on Human Relations had the opportunity to give a platform to victims of the many anti-Jewish hate crimes in Chicago. Yet, as @ADLMidwest’s Rebecca Weininger said, they chose to platform tokenized & polarizing voices.

It’s one thing to acknowledge Palestinian suffering and express your hopes for the war to end, but how about using your celebrity status to pressure Hamas to actually treat Gazans with humanity and release the innocent hostages? Boycotting Israelis in the film industry only widens the divides you seek to narrow.

We commend ‘Scholars for Truth about Genocide’ — representing hundreds of esteemed Holocaust, genocide, and legal scholars — for challenging IAGS’ biased resolution claiming that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. As we’ve stated multiple times, this claim singularly demonizes Israel — the world’s only Jewish state — by accusing it of committing a crime which has been suffered by the Jewish people and therefore a perverse double standard. As they note: “Genocide is the gravest offense known to humankind; to dilute its legal standards for ideological ends is a form of moral violence.”
