Hi John,
On September 11, 2001, our community felt the loss in a way that will never fade. Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn lost neighbors, friends, and family members. We carry their memories every single day.
We remember the first responders from our firehouses and precincts who ran toward danger. Some never came home. Their courage is still with us — and it's personal to us living in New York.
America is more than a place on a map. It is an idea. An idea rooted in liberty, justice, and equality for all. That idea is what carried us through the pain of 9/11, and it is what still guides us today.
The best way we can honor those we lost is by standing together and living up to those values every single day.
We will never forget.
