WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Legal (AFL) President Gene Hamilton released the following statement regarding the assassination of American Patriot Charlie Kirk and in remembrance of the terrorist attacks that claimed thousands of American lives on September 11, 2001.
“Today is a somber day.
Twenty-four years ago today, thousands of innocent American lives were cut short prematurely in a horrific terrorist attack on our nation. Thousands of people were murdered—forever changing their families and friends—to further an ideology infected with actual hate.
Yesterday, the great American patriot, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated—undoubtedly by an individual whose ideology was infected with actual hate. He was an innocent man, husband, father, and a voice for countless Americans—and he was murdered because they hated what he said and what he represented.
As we reflect on Charlie’s life and the thousands of American lives lost on September 11, 2001, we must remember:
Evil is real. It is present in this world. And it seeks destruction.
Speech is not violence. And violence is not speech.
We live in a truly special country. We must preserve it. We must protect innocent life. And we must never falter in doing so.
Our team at America First Legal will not be silenced. We will not give up our fight. No terror attack, no assassination, no force on this planet will stop us from fighting for the American dream, for our clients, for everyday Americans.
We honor Charlie Kirk’s life. We pray for his wife and children. We honor the thousands of Americans who died on September 11, 2001.
And we aspire to honor both Charlie’s legacy and the lives of those who died twenty-four years ago by staying in the fight.
We will not cease. We will not falter. We will not fail.”
