To prevent cruelty to animals, we promote enacting and enforcing good public policies. To enact good laws, we must elect good lawmakers, and that’s why we remind voters which candidates care about our issues and which ones don’t. If you’d like to unsubscribe, click here. |

Dear John,
This week, Animal Wellness Action and the Center for a Humane Economy hosted a powerful webinar: "Farm Protection or Factory Farm Giveaway? Exposing the Threat of the Food Security and Farm Protection Act."
If you weren’t able to join us, you can watch the full recording here.
During the event, our panel of agricultural veterinarians, an economist, and I exposed how the National Pork Producers Council — working on behalf of China’s Smithfield Foods — is pushing legislation to wipe out landmark state-level animal welfare laws.
If Congress passes the so-called Food Security and Farm Protection Act, hundreds of thousands of pigs could be taken from their pens and pastures and locked up again in cages so small they cannot even turn around. Even worse, America could see the rise of 30-story hog confinement towers, already common in China’s pork industry, brought to America’s heartland.
Take Action Today
- Email your representative and senators in Congress today. Click here and urge them to oppose the Food Security and Farm Protection Act in the Senate and the Save Our Bacon Act in the House.
- Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. Ask to be connected to your representative and senators. Urge them to reject this dangerous legislation.
- Spread the word. Share the action link on social media to rally others to this cause.
Learn More
- Learn more about the threat of high-rise hog factory farms as the new form of factory farming. Get the report.
- Watch for more events in our Claudia Miller Ignite Series on Animal Welfare, where we’ll continue to shine a light on urgent issues.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. Now is the time to fight farm animals, states’ rights, and democratic decision-making.
For the animals,
