🔁 RECAP: last week, THREE of our endorsed mamas running for state senate had important special elections.
👏 RESULTS: we are excited to share that ALL THREE MOMS made it across the finish line!
- IN IOWA >> Catelin Drey handily defeated the Republican candidate which means Republicans no longer hold a supermajority in the Iowa Senate. This comes at a critical time as Joni Ernst makes threats to take away Medicaid, saying “Well, we are all going to die,” when pressed about the issue. This win matters, and we could not be happier to see the impact of it in this headline:
- IN GEORGIA >> Debra Shigley had a strong primary finish, securing the top spot with nearly 40% of the vote. Now, she is in a head-to-head race in November where we know she can win against Jason Dickerson. The results speak for themselves:
- IN MINNESOTA >> Rep. Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger won her primary with 82% of the vote. Now she advances to the general special election for a state senate seat key to maintaining the Democratic majority. She has been a fighter for moms and families for years. Before serving in the state legislature, she led successful grassroots efforts to pass paid parental leave for all state employees. We know she will continue to do amazing things in the Senate!
Thanks to YOUR grassroots support and donations, Vote Mama is able to provide these incredible moms with critical resources to help them win.
As we continue to harness the positive momentum and energy of these victories, we wanted to take a moment to tell you how grateful we are to have you in this fight alongside us and our endorsed mamas.
This work is made possible because of you, and we can’t do it without you
Onward!
