America Cannot Become a Nation of Mutes

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is not just a tragedy—it is a warning to every believer in America.

I write this today with a heavy heart. My complete and utter sorrow over the assassination of Charlie Kirk cannot be overstated.

It shakes the soul. It silences rooms. And it leaves those of us at Christian Action Network deeply troubled—wondering not just who could commit such an act, but who will be next.

This was not just a murder. It was an assassination—a term Utah Governor Spencer Cox used immediately to describe the event. And that distinction matters.

A murder is personal. An assassination is political.

It carries a message: “We will kill you for what you believe. We will silence your faith, your voice, your courage.”

When the trigger was pulled on Charlie Kirk, it wasn’t only aimed at him—it was aimed at every conservative believer in America.

Already, I hear the whispers of retaliation. People are saying: “If they kill one of ours, we’ll kill one of theirs.” They argue that it’s the only way to deter further bloodshed.

I understand the instinct.

When you sit in a stadium or a church pew and feel like a sitting duck, survival takes over. If the government cannot or will not protect you, human nature insists on defending itself.

But retaliation is not self-defense.

The Bible draws that line clearly. Self-defense is not forbidden—it is both biblical and constitutional. Exodus 22 allows for it.

Nehemiah’s workers built the wall with a sword in one hand and tools in the other. Our Constitution enshrines it in the Second Amendment. Protecting innocent life is not a sin; it is a duty.

But revenge? Vigilanteism? An “eye for an eye” campaign of assassination-for-assassination?

It could quickly become a cycle of death with no end. If this path is not stopped now, it will not silence the violence—it will silence the truth.

We will devolve into a nation of mutes – people afraid on both sides of the aisle to speak their minds.

And do not think these assassinations are simply the acts of unhinged individuals.

The Charlie Kirk shooting has the fingerprints of something far more professional. A sniper rifle, a clean strike, perfect timing—this doesn’t feel like an amateur hit. It looks, smells, and feels like a professional hit job. Someone with deep pockets and dark motives who wanted Charlie Kirk dead.

Meanwhile, movements like Black Lives Matter posted this shocker on social media just a day before Kirk’s assassination:

“We have a right to violence… like the right to pee. You got to have the right place, the right time, the right situation.”

That is the cultural backdrop of this assassination: the normalization of violence as a political tool. If one side treats murder like a bodily function, it doesn’t take a prophet to see where this leads.

We are living in dark, uncertain times. I cannot predict the future. But I can say this:

Charlie Kirk’s voice must not be silenced in vain. We cannot shrink back into fear. We cannot allow America to become a nation of frozen mutes.

We must honor him—not by retaliation, but by speaking the truth louder, clearer, and with greater courage than ever before.

Let us grieve. Let us pray. Let us defend ourselves and our families if danger comes to our doors. But let us heed this caution:

If society devolves into retaliation based on political belief, the ultimate casualty will be the end of a nation that can speak freely.

So, for all those TikTokers vowing revenge, choose this zero-sum game wisely.

May God comfort Charlie Kirk’s family, and may He strengthen us all for the days ahead.

Next up? What are Members of Congress saying on social media? I’ll have a full report tomorrow.
