Request for proposals for labor standards outreach grant

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) announces the availability of up to $200,000 in grant funding to support outreach, education and technical assistance efforts that increase worker awareness of Minnesota's labor standards laws.

*Maximum award:*  $50,000 max per applicant

*Application deadline:  *Oct. 3, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CDT

*Grant type:  *Competitive

Purpose

This grant aims to increase worker knowledge and understanding of Minnesota's labor standards laws and regulations through outreach, education and technical assistance.

Many workers face barriers that limit their awareness of and ability to assert their rights -- including challenges related to education, income, immigration status, geographic isolation and language access. These barriers can prevent workers from fully understanding their workplace protections or knowing what to do when their rights are violated.

By supporting community-centered and culturally relevant efforts, this grant seeks to inform and empower workers, especially those most affected by these barriers, so they can better understand their rights and the options available to them.

Topics may include:

* wage theft prevention;
* child labor restrictions;
* workplace accommodations for pregnant or nursing employees;
* paid sick leave requirements; and
* other labor standards promoting safe and equitable workplaces.

Eligibility

Proposals will be accepted from Minnesota-based nonprofit organizations with experience supporting workers in focus populations. Applications must meet all minimum requirements to be considered.
