Trump’s Make America Healthy Again initiative fails to address pesticides, factory farms, and the corporate control of our food system. Tell Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy: This is NOT how you make America healthy. ([link removed])

John,

Yesterday, the White House released its long-awaited Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) strategy report.

The report, written by a commission chaired by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., lays out the Trump administration’s priorities on food and childhood chronic disease and it lets some of the biggest players driving our unhealthy food system off the hook: Big chemical companies, pesticide manufacturers, and massive factory farm operations.

In short, it gives Big Ag a big pass.

Tell Secretary Kennedy: You can’t make America healthy without taking on the powerful corporations that are poisoning our food system. Stop the gimmicks and use your power to push for real reform or step aside. ([link removed])

Kennedy spent all last year talking about how he wanted to “Make America Healthy Again.” A key part of that agenda was addressing issues like food chemicals and pesticides that poison our food and water.

When he joined with Trump, Kennedy pledged to continue this agenda. But now, he’s abandoning his promises on pesticides and instead dismantling regulations and forcing out staff needed to protect farmers and consumers.

Kennedy released the MAHA report alongside Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin. It’s the latest in a string of betrayals that will make Americans more sick.

Tell Kennedy — stop the charade. Don’t use rhetoric around good food and children's health to run interference for big agribusiness. ([link removed])

Here are just a few of the ways the MAHA approach falls short:

It fails to address the impact that factory farms have on children. These facilities are often sited right next to homes and schools and release a cocktail of dangerous air pollution, including particulate matter, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide. The report failed to recommend enforceable exposure limits for hazardous air emissions.

It lacks any real action on toxic pesticides, like glyphosate, linked to rising cancer rates nationwide, while Trump and allies in Congress are actively pushing for Cancer Gag Act language in the next spending bill that would give pesticide companies immunity against health-related lawsuits.

It makes only a passing mention of rampant PFAS contamination in drinking water, while disregarding how common-sense water safety rules are being weakened and canceled elsewhere in the administration.

And it doesn’t address Trump’s cuts, which have gutted food safety oversight and closed food safety labs. Trump’s gutting of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) by 3,500 staff will leave the agency unable to implement even the few positive aspects of the MAHA report.

Take Action Now! ([link removed])

Kennedy is a key part of the Trump administration. He has power. There are actions he could take that are fully in his control, like stopping the abuse of antibiotics and the misuse of other drugs on factory farms.

He could also publicly pressure Trump to take on the pesticide and chemical industries that Kennedy has agreed are making Americans sick.

He’s done none of this.

Kennedy’s hyping of marketing gimmicks by large corporations and loyalty to Donald Trump will NOT protect our health or our food. We need sweeping changes to make our food healthier and safer and to stop corporations from controlling our most precious resources.

Tell Kennedy: Stop playing games with food safety and health. ([link removed])
