Putin’s Drone Rampage Backfires—Trump Preps Crushing U.S. Response
Russia just unleashed its most ferocious overnight assault of the war—more than 800 drones and a volley of missiles rained down on Ukrainian cities. Air defenses shot down most of them, but strikes still killed civilians, including a mother and her baby.
The Kremlin called it strength. But in Washington, it set off something else entirely: fury. President Donald Trump said he is “ready” to roll out a new sanctions package and warned that “phase two” is about to begin.
People familiar with the plan say the White House is eyeing Russia’s banks, oil revenues, and the shadowy networks supplying microchips and drone components. Each step would raise the cost of Putin’s war and squeeze his regime harder than before.
Trump made it plain. If Moscow thought this strike would intimidate the West, it may have just guaranteed the harshest punishment yet.
