Governor Walz Orders Flags at Half Staff in Honor of September 11

Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to fly at half-staff at all state buildings in Minnesota on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“On September 11, thousands of innocent lives were lost in an unthinkable tragedy that profoundly changed our nation,” said Governor Walz. “On this day of remembrance, we mourn the lives lost, honor the heroism of our first responders, and reflect on the resilience of the American people.”

Flags are also currently lowered in honor of the lives lost at Annunciation Catholic School and will remain at half-staff through Sunday, September 14, 2025. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are also encouraged to join in lowering their flags.

The Governor's proclamation can be found here. He has also proclaimed September 11, 2025 as Patriot Day.
