Dear John,

Here in Southern California, we know that fire season is becoming a year-round reality, and it seems to be getting worse every year. We saw this firsthand in the Inland Empire last fall with the Bridge and Line fires and the devastating fires in Los Angeles this past winter. 

As our region continues on the path to recovery and works to improve our emergency preparedness, it is crucial that we support our firefighters and first responders who protect our communities.

I was proud to join some of the brave men and women from the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District to learn more about the hard work they do every day, putting their lives on the line to keep us safe. Our firefighters and first responders make endless sacrifices for our county and state and deserve our appreciation and support.

At a time when the Trump Administration is gutting FEMA and playing politics with federal aid for natural disasters, the work our firefighters do is more important than ever. I’ll keep fighting in Congress to support our first responders and ensure our communities receive the disaster assistance they need, as soon as they need it.
