Arizona's electoral independence is under attack.

The Trump administration is demanding our state hand over Arizona voters' complete personal information — including dates of birth, addresses, and Social Security numbers — to the Department of Justice.

This isn't about election security. This is about federal control over Arizona's elections.

According to the Brennan Center for Justice, Arizona is one of at least 21 states that Trump’s DOJ has targeted for voter roll information. Our Democratic Secretary of State, Adrian Fontes, has refused to comply, citing Arizona law that makes it a felony for public officials to release this sensitive voter data.

But this is bigger than one request. This is about whether Arizona controls its own elections.

Trump has already announced plans to eliminate mail-in voting used by over 85% of Arizona voters, and he’s demanding voter ID requirements in all states. Now, he also wants access to every Arizona voter's personal information.

This is a systematic assault not just on our state’s electoral independence, but also on our personal privacy and our rights.
