Right now, our city is under siege. The Department of Homeland Security has launched a massive deportation operation in Chicago — chillingly named “Operation Midway Blitz.”

And this comes just as the Supreme Court handed down a decision allowing ICE to stop people solely on the basis of race, ethnicity, or language. Let that sink in: federal agents can now target people just for looking or sounding “different.”

This is fascism unfolding before our very eyes.

We already know ICE’s record. They have arrested — and even deported — American citizens without due process. This ruling and this operation will make that abuse exponentially worse. Families are terrified. Businesses are bracing. And as a school board member, I am hearing that families feel unsafe to even send their kids to school. Communities like ours are being treated like enemies in our own country. 

But we are not backing down.



My campaign is on the ground, monitoring the situation, standing side by side with families threatened by ICE, educating businesses and neighbors about their rights, and joining peaceful protests to push back against this encroaching fascism.
