Secretary Gray Addresses Only Citizens Vote Tour at U.S. Capitol on Importance of Passing the SAVE Act

CHEYENNE, WY – On September 10th, Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray addressed the Only Citizens Vote Bus Tour finale rally at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on his support of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to require documentary proof of United States citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to address the Only Citizens Vote tour finale at the United States Capitol and speak to the importance of passing the SAVE Act in the U.S. Senate,” Secretary Gray said in a statement. “The SAVE Act provides a common-sense way of ensuring only American citizens can vote in American elections by requiring documentary proof of United States citizenship to register to vote across the county. Proof of citizenship for registering to vote is pivotal to election integrity. Only United States citizens should be voting in American elections.  Period.  I am proud of our work in implementing these priorities in Wyoming with the passage of House Bill 156, requiring proof of U.S. citizenship and proof of Wyoming residency to vote in all Wyoming elections.  With the SAVE Act’s passage by the U.S. House earlier this year, it is so important that it is also passed by the U.S. Senate.”
