 Dear Friend,
Last week, thousands of hardworking construction industry professionals rallied at the Capitol to remind legislators that without a roads deal, high-quality, high paying jobs are at risk.
We’ve come a long way on Michigan’s roads. Since I took office, crews have fixed, repaired, or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of road and 1,900 bridges—and they’ll keep at it through the end of this construction season—supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs along the way.
However, without a new roads plan, we cannot finish the job of fixing the damn roads. If we don't pass a long-term, sustainable roads plan, we risk losing the workers and resources we need to fix them.

The state legislature needs to act.
We need a long-term, bipartisan road funding plan so we can keep fixing our highways and step up work on the local roads that Michiganders drive every day.
Let's protect good-paying jobs, invest in our workforce, and fix the damn roads for good.
Sincerely,
 Gretchen Whitmer
Governor
 Make Your Voice Heard
I urge Republicans and Democrats to work together to come up with a roads plan to keep fixing our roads. I look forward to working with Speaker Hall, Majority Leader Brinks, and others in the state legislature to find a commonsense solution. Both parties will have to compromise to get this done right, and that’s the way it ought to be.
