One bright spot in this year of incessant attacks on our democracy has been the incredible overperformance of pro-democracy candidates in state and local elections across the country. Even in Wisconsin, where Trump’s biggest donor spent a gazillion dollars trying to buy the Supreme Court race, the MAGA candidate was trounced.
Now, the most important election of the year is coming up in Virginia. This November, control of the governor’s mansion, lieutenant governor's office, Attorney General’s office, and House of Delegates is up for grabs, along with a slew of other statewide and local offices. This will be our biggest test yet for our ability to out-organize Trump and MAGA at the ballot box, and the consequences will be felt far beyond Virginia.
A win on Election Day would give us momentum as we head into the 2026 midterms and secure another blue state trifecta at a time when state and local officials play a critical role in resisting Trump’s authoritarian agenda. To make sure we win in November, we’re deploying a cutting-edge grassroots campaign and supporting our deep network of Indivisible groups and volunteers who are already working to engage voters across the state.

Together, we can flip the governor’s mansion and Attorney General’s office and elect leaders up and down the ballot who will stand for Virginians and fight back against Trump’s authoritarian power grabs. And the tactics we use in this election will help us test and hone our strategies for taking back the House in next year’s midterms.
