On Saturday, Trump threatened war against Chicago. He posted a chilling "Apocalypse Now"-style image on social media of himself in front of a Chicago skyline full of military helicopters and flames and wrote that Chicago is "about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR."1 He ended the post with three helicopter emojis, a reference used by the right to evoke Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet's brutal tactic of pushing political opponents out of helicopters.2

The first No Kings Day, on June 14, brought more than 5 million Americans into the streets. That historic day of peaceful resistance proved something vital: When we stand together, we are more powerful than Trump and his cronies. Trump's military birthday parade that same day became an afterthought as the real story emerged—millions of Americans rejecting his authoritarian agenda in the largest single-day mass mobilization in recent history.
The principle of "no kings" launched our nation's founding. On October 18, millions will carry it forward—in rallies and marches, on signs and in chants, from urban centers to rural crossroads—uniting Americans of every background in defense of democracy, freedom, safety, and our communities and to demand a better future where everyone can thrive.
