President Donald Trump addressed the nation in a video [ [link removed] ] posted to X Tuesday, responding to the horrific killing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in North Carolina and calling out the soft-on-crime Democrat leaders who have failed the American people.

“For far too long Americans have been forced to put up with Democrat-run cities that set loose savage, bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people,” Trump said in the address.
“In Charlotte, North Carolina we saw the results of these policies when a 23-year-old woman, who came here from Ukraine, met her bloody end on a public train,” he continued, showing a picture of the woman and of the security camera footage that captured her stabbing.
“She was slaughtered by a deranged monster [ [link removed] ] who was roaming free after 14 prior arrests!” Trump explained. “We have to respond with force and strength! We have to be vicious just like they are!”

FBI moves in to charge suspect in horrifying train stabbing
The FBI announced [ [link removed] ] that Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr., 34, has been federally charged with committing an act causing death on a mass transportation system for the fatal stabbing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte light-rail train on August 22.
Maximum Penalty Sought: Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the Justice Department will seek the maximum penalty for Brown, calling the attack a "direct result of failed soft-on-crime policies" and stating he will "never again see the light of day as a free man."
FBI Director Kash Patel said: "The brutal attack on Iryna Zarutska on the Charlotte Light Rail was a disgraceful act that should never happen in America,… The FBI jumped to assist in this investigation immediately to ensure justice is served, and the perpetrator is never released from jail to kill again.”
Victim's Background: Zarutska, 23, was a Ukrainian refugee who fled the war in 2022 and settled in Charlotte, where she worked at Zepeddie's Pizza and was wearing her work uniform when attacked; she was described as a passionate artist and graduate of Synergy College in Kyiv with a degree in art and restoration.
Suspect's Criminal History: Brown has an extensive criminal record spanning a decade with 14 arrests, including convictions for robbery with a dangerous weapon (serving over six years in prison), larceny, breaking and entering, and recent charges for communicating threats and misusing the 911 system.
