WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Legal’s (AFL) petition filed with the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC)—seeking a rule requiring proof of citizenship for federal voter registration to ensure that only U.S. citizens vote in U.S. elections—surpassed 1,100 comments. 


This is a critical effort to safeguard election integrity across the country, and this public comment period is a landmark opportunity for Americans to make their voices heard.


The public comment period on this petition for rulemaking will be open until Monday, October 20, 2025.
