CA-34 is a true test between the working class and the corporate & billionaire elites.

Justice Democrats

John,

Angela Gonzales-Torres is running for Congress in California’s 34th District because working families deserve a representative who actually fights for them — not for lobbyists, billionaires, or their next political promotion.

She’s going up against incumbent Rep. Jimmy Gomez — a corporate Democrat who’s more than happy to sell out his community for PAC checks while rents skyrocket, environmental crises go ignored, and more Angelenos are forced to work multiple jobs just to survive.

Millionaires like Jimmy don’t have to worry about the cost of groceries, rising rent, or how to make their next paycheck stretch. Angela does. She grew up as the daughter of a deportee, experienced housing insecurity, and worked two jobs to put herself through community college. Today, she still lives in the community she’s running to represent — and she’s organizing alongside her neighbors every day.

Angela knows that if we want to solve the housing crisis, lower the costs of living, and protect workers, we need leaders who are willing to stand up to corporate interests — not take money from them.

Jimmy, on the other hand, has been more concerned with gaining and retaining power at any cost, including at the expense of the community he has been entrusted with representing. Despite pledging to protect all of his community, including the nearly 50% of his district who were born outside the U.S., Jimmy has taken money from corporations that profit from prisons and detention centers — making the interests of his donors at crystal clear odds with the interests of his community. And when you look at his voting records — like how AIPAC spent $3 million to support Jimmy in 2024 and he still is refusing to sign onto the Block the Bombs Act, or how crypto lobbies spent more than half a million dollars to support him in 2024 and he subsequently voted to greenlight Trump’s crypto corruption, allowing Trump to make billions of dollars off his presidency at the expense of working people — it’s clear Jimmy is guided by his donors, not his voters.

His incumbency is a symptom of the deeper ills of our political system: one where super PACs and the super-rich can purchase seats in Congress, and one where corporate career politicians are all too happy to sell their communities out for PAC checks.

Los Angeles needs representation with moral courage and deep organizing roots to keep its community members shielded from the deepest harm — not an empty suit who will gladly look the other way if it benefits him and his corporate backers.

We can no longer be the Party that lets millionaires, billionaires, and corporate Super PACs dictate our priorities and agenda. With the right voices in Congress, and with working-class people who understand working-class problems, we can fight to pass an agenda for us all: achieve universal healthcare, create millions of union jobs, lower costs for everyday people, and protect our democracy.

Angela often echoes Ayanna Pressley, saying those closest to the pain should be the closest to the power, and that’s what this race is about: replacing a broken status quo with real, community-rooted, working-class leadership. That’s exactly the kind of change we need in Congress — and exactly what Angela brings to the table.

She has what it takes to defeat Jimmy — but only if this progressive movement comes together to fuel her campaign from the ground up. Will you chip in $5 to support us today?
