The only thing consistent about Republicans is that they don't know how to govern.

When the duty of their office comes knocking, they slam the door and play partisan games. This is exactly why we find ourselves facing a government shutdown if they don't get it together by September 30th.

Funding the government is Congress’ most basic responsibility. As elected officials, it is their job to work together to ensure our government works for the American people. It's a duty Diana has always taken seriously, and she believes that bipartisanship is possible, but only when everyone acts in good faith.

Instead of collaborating with Democrats to pass a budget that keeps the government running, Republicans have made it clear they will prioritize the wishes of Donald Trump over those of the American people.

A shutdown would fall at the feet of the Republicans. Our government is already in chaos with the illegal firing of thousands of public servants — shutting down would force furloughs of thousands more. Millions of Americans will be left without access to their paychecks, Medicaid, SNAP benefits, and so much more.
