Dear John,
Many American youth are navigating sex, relationships, and their own identities without access to evidence-based sex education. This comes with real consequences: a lack of medically accurate, age-appropriate, and affirming education leads to higher rates of unintended pregnancies, sexually-transmitted infections, and unhealthy relationship dynamics.
Every young person deserves the tools and knowledge to make informed, empowered decisions about their bodies and their futures, yet far too many are unable to access the information they need.
The Real Education and Access for Healthy Youth Act establishes grants for medically-accurate and age-appropriate sex education at schools and youth-serving organizations, educator training, and the delivery of sexual health services to underserved young people. The bill also repeals the Abstinence Only Until Marriage Program.
Sincerely,
Rachel Deitch Policy and Political Director
