This is a setback for our communities and our rights.
Yesterday's Supreme Court decision clears the way for ICE agents to use someone’s race, the language they speak, where they work, or just where they happen to be as a reason to stop, detail, search, and seize them.
Disappointing and disturbing, to say the least.
As Attorney General, I will never stop fighting to protect your rights, our public safety, and the freedoms we are guaranteed by the Constitution.

ICE’s immigration enforcement tactics here in California and around the country have been aggressive and cruel.
Armed officers conducting unannounced raids wearing masks, driving unmarked vehicles, refusing to identify themselves — this stuff is already harmful enough to our communities — but stopping people without a shred of evidence of any wrongdoing is just wrong.
Nowhere in our country should people be expected to live like this — their civil rights under attack, our public safety at risk, with many afraid to even leave their homes.
Let me be clear: Someone speaking Spanish, being at a certain location, or doing a certain kind of work should *not* be justification for trampling on their legal rights.
