John, it’s Eugene Vindman. I made a difficult decision yesterday, and I need to tell you about it.
Last month, our fundraising took a big dip — it was our toughest month to date. While we slowed down, national Republicans ramped up, naming me as a top target and smearing me as a “traitor” for defending the Constitution and standing up to Trump’s authoritarian agenda.
This is exactly the kind of opening they’ve been waiting for — a chance to pummel our movement and try to stall our momentum.
It became a big problem, so my team and I sat down to figure out how to respond. We decided we needed to urgently expand our digital advertising efforts to combat these attacks, tell the truth, and catch up.
It wasn’t an easy decision. After the tough August we had, the money wasn’t in the budget. But I gave my team the green light anyway because we can’t let these attacks go unanswered — and because I’m betting on this grassroots team to help us close the gap.
