AUGUST 2025
|
Dear Friend,
The Trump regime continues to reshape the United States into a country run by and for corporations and the white, wealthy elites behind them — by attacking our rights, dismantling programs and services that help protect us, and making it easier for corporations to consolidate power and influence.
So when we launched this year's Corporate Hall of Shame — our annual ballot where you vote for the most abusive corporation — we knew it needed to focus on corporations that are propping up the authoritarian Trump regime and profiting from its cruel agenda. And when we asked members like you which corporations should be on the ballot, the overwhelming majority had connections to the Trump regime.
Corporations like GEO Group, which is on the ballot for facilitating and benefiting from the regime’s cruel and brutal immigration policies through its private immigrant detention centers. And Tesla, which earned its nomination for ongoing safety issues of its vehicles, and for CEO Elon Musk’s outsized and undemocratic role in the early days of the current regime.
Learn more about the Corporate Hall of Shame in this video we put together. Then read up on the nominees and cast your ballot if you haven't already voted.
We'll announce the winner in the fall, and come together with members like you and allies from across the corporate accountability movement to directly challenge the corporation that gets inducted into the Hall of Shame.
Beyond the Corporate Hall of Shame, check out a few more ways you've made an impact this month:

Celebrating a victory as Pittsburgh protects its public water from corporate control
|
This past spring 78% of Pittsburgh voters chose to keep the city’s water and sewer system public, passing a historic resolution banning its sale or lease to private entities. This monumental victory will protect Pittsburgh from the slew of corporate water takeovers in Pennsylvania, incentivized by pro-privatization policies and years of industry lobbying. And as the second major U.S. city to ban the most extreme forms of water privatization, following Baltimore, Pittsburgh has set a precedent for other communities to follow. Pittsburgh water organizers, led by Pennsylvania United and the Our Water Campaign, and many other local groups, mobilized together to ensure this critical victory. And we supported this powerhouse coalition in the weeks leading up to the referendum. Read more about this inspiring victory on our blog.

Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. We are building a world rooted in justice where corporations answer to people, not the other way around -- a world where every person has access to clean water, healthy food, a safe place to live, and the opportunity to reach their full human potential.
