Generous contributions from supporters like you have enabled some remarkable achievements in our mission to create a more compassionate world for animals. We want to share with you the incredible progress your support has made possible and invite you to join us in this vital work. Your commitment to animals is not only breaking new ground, it's sparing countless animals from lives of cruelty and neglect.
As we gear up for our final actions of 2025, we'd love to have your support. Can we count on your gift?
This year has been truly transformative for our organization. Our groundbreaking Manning Beef investigation in late 2024 revealed some of the most disturbing footage in our 30-year history, documenting cows being butchered while still showing signs of consciousness and sensibility to pain at Los Angeles' last remaining cow slaughterhouse. Our undercover investigator captured horrific cruelty, including a downed dairy cow shocked over 20 times with an electric cattle prod, cows shot multiple times with captive bolt guns, and workers skinning animals who appeared to be still moving. What makes this investigation particularly impactful is that Manning Beef supplies meat to federal child nutrition programs like the National School Lunch Program while subjecting animals to this unconscionable cruelty. In response, the USDA cited Manning Beef for non-compliance with humane handling legislation.

In our Farm Transitions program, we completed our first transition of a former chicken farm. Located in Southeast Alabama, the formerly Tyson-contracted chicken facility was retrofitted to grow lettuce. Where once as many as 400,000 chickens crowded into filthy, dimly lit sheds, now rows and rows of fresh lettuce are harvested for the benefit of the local community. Starting this fall, more than 5,000 children across three school districts in Alabama will enjoy produce that used to have to be trucked in from as far away as California at a 40% spoilage rate. Thanks to you, not only have hundreds of thousands of chickens been spared, thousands of children now have access to fresh salad greens.
We've accomplished so much this year and we're already looking forward to growing on that success in the year to come. The only thing that's missing now is you. Will you make your gift today to make a difference for future generations of animals?
For the animals,
Ben Williamson
Executive Director
