Tell company Mexico Pacific the incomparable Gulf of California
is no place for fossil fuels.

Mexico Pacific attempts to revive plan to pollute
irreplaceable marine sanctuary

Stymied by financial, legal, and operational obstacles, energy
corporation
Mexico Pacific is requesting a seven-year permit extension to
realize its disastrous plans to export dirty energy in the
wildlife-filled Gulf of California.

Send a message of opposition to Mexico Pacific right away.

Dear NRDC Activist,

A marine sanctuary with 700 miles of
crystal blue water full of blue and fin whales, whale sharks,
leatherback sea turtles, and thousands of other wildlife species
— this is what U.S. energy company Mexico Pacific has been trying
to turn into a gas station and shipping channel with its proposal
to export filthy liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Gulf of
California off mainland Mexico's western coast.

Now, Mexico Pacific’s original seven-year
permit is expiring, and despite their own mismanagement, flawed
decisionmaking, and mounting opposition to industrialization of
the Gulf, they are asking the Department of Energy for an
extension of seven more years.

We cannot stand by and let Mexico Pacific
— backed by J.P. Morgan and oil giants like Shell,
ConocoPhillips, and ExxonMobil — get another free pass to pollute
an irreplaceable marine paradise. We must raise our voices now
because “drill, baby, drill” is not the right solution — for
people or for marine life.

Tell Mexico Pacific to reverse their
plans to export dirty energy out of the pristine Gulf of
California. ( [link removed] )

Known as the “aquarium of the world,” the
Gulf of California is home to more than 800 types of fish and
nearly 40 percent of all marine mammal species on Earth —
including endangered blue whales, the largest animal ever, and
the critically endangered vaquita, the world’s smallest porpoise,
which lives, feeds, and nurses its young here. And this World
Heritage Site is a vital breeding ground for endangered seabirds
already struggling to find food because of overfishing.

If Mexico Pacific’s project advances:
* A huge LNG export terminal will be built
* Fracked gas will be transported through 650 miles of new
pipeline from Texas to Mexico
* Volatile LNG in tankers (each of which are nearly the length of
three football fields) will be shipped to Asia
* Marine life will be threatened by unavoidable ship strikes and
increased ocean noise
* Massive new LNG shipments will lead to more carbon and methane
pollution, drastically contributing to the climate crisis

Endangered species will die, other imperiled
marine wildlife will be at risk, and one of the world’s most
acclaimed areas of biodiversity will be forever altered — all to
create dirty energy we don’t need and to make the oil and gas
industry richer.

Mexico Pacific’s dangerous LNG project must be
stopped. Urge the company not to pollute this unparalleled World
Heritage Site. ( [link removed] )

NRDC is fighting back with everything we’ve got.
Nearly 50,000 supporters like you have already stood up to demand
that LNG project backer J.P. Morgan end their support.

NRDC has also put investors like Japan’s largest
bank, MUFG, on notice that financing this project could violate
their own environmental and human rights policies and make them
vulnerable to lawsuits. We’ve also been working to bring global
attention to the unspoiled Gulf and its astonishing marine
wildlife.

And we've been directly appealing to Mexico
Pacific. That’s why we need your help now to urge Mexico Pacific
to abandon ship.

Join our massive outcry to keep
fossil fuels out of this incomparable marine sanctuary. ( [link removed] )

Thanks so much for your ongoing support of this
important campaign.

Sincerely,

Joel Reynolds
