Donald Trump posted this, and I’m appalled.

The President of the United States is openly threatening an American city — my city — with war.

Whether you’re a Chicagoan or not — whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent — read this again. This is not a joke. This is not politics as usual. And it cannot be normalized. We’re no longer sliding towards fascism — we’re living it.

I was born and raised in Chicago. I’ve spent my life serving Illinois, and I know the value our immigrant communities bring to Illinois. These are families who contribute, who make our state stronger every single day. To target them with military force isn’t “law and order.” It’s cruelty. It’s intimidation. It’s un-American.

And let’s be clear: This isn’t about keeping anyone safe. It’s about Donald Trump manufacturing chaos and turning our neighborhoods into a stage for his political theater.

Governor Pritzker and I are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with immigrant families, and we’re fighting back every single day to protect Illinois from Trump’s authoritarian agenda. But we cannot do it alone.

That’s why I need you with me. Add your name to demand Donald Trump end his threats to militarize Chicago and stop targeting immigrant families.
