Hi John,
Just a quick recap of upcoming events:
Political Education Forum
Saturday, September 13 - 2 PM - 4 PM - Quaker Meeting House (2012 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara)
This month's forum will focus on Palestine - the history of conflict with Israel, Zionism, the power of the Israel lobby in US politics and in California, and the role of socialists in this context. The speaker, Marcy Winograd, is a DSA member in Santa Barbara who coordinates CODEPINK's Drop the ADL campaign. She also serves on the legislative team of CA Jewish Voice for Peace-Action. In 2020, Marcy was a DSA-elected delegate for Bernie Sanders' Presidential campaign. For more information, please contact [email protected].
Workplace Organizing Committee Meeting
Saturday, September 13 - 4:30 PM - Rusty's Pizza (111 State St, Santa Barbara)
This committee is for anyone who wants to organize a union at work, wants to help other workers build unions at work, or is in a union themselves. If this interests you or you simply want to learn more about the labor movement and how to plug in, we’ll be gathering at the Rusty’s on lower State St (111 State St). For the first meeting we’ll be getting to know each other and working together to chart a course for the committee. Hope to see you there!
If you want to join the committee but can’t make it on Saturday, text/call Lucy at 845-705-4092.

Coming Up in October:
Sunset Plant Identification Hike
Sunday, October 5th - 4:30- 6 PM - Ellwood Mesa Open Space & Sperling Preserve (7729 Hollister Ave, Goleta, CA 93117)
Join Co-Chair & local herbalist Nicole for a sunset plant identification walk at Ellwood Bluffs. We’ll meet in the parking lot across from the Ellwood School at 4:30 PM and take off through the mesa. As we hike along the coast, we’ll learn about the plants we see along the way (medicinal herbs as well as toxic plants), including some critically at-risk species. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water. You may also want to wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. If you like taking notes, a notebook and pen would be helpful. This is an easy hike, about 3.5 miles in length.
New Steering Committee Meeting & Orientation
Tuesday, October 28 - 6 PM - 7:30 PM (More information forthcoming)
No Chapter Meeting
There will be no Chapter Meeting in October (please take care of yourselves and enjoy a "Fall Break!"). Stay tuned for more information regarding upcoming fall social events and political education forums.
See you soon!
In Solidarity,
The DSA-SB Steering Committee
