Trump Rebrands Pentagon—A Warrior Ethos Returns to Washington

Trump just ripped the Pentagon out of its “defensive” shell.

On Friday, the president will sign an executive order officially reviving the name “Department of War” as a secondary title. Secretary Pete Hegseth will even carry the label “Secretary of War.”

It’s more than symbolism. Pentagon websites, signage, and even the press briefing room will be updated to hammer home the new focus. The White House calls it a “warrior ethos” campaign, designed to shed decades of drift and remind the military of America’s winning tradition.

Trump made it plain: under the Department of War, America racked up victories. Under the Department of Defense, endless stalemates and humiliations followed. Now, the era of “defense” is ending, and the era of victory is back.
