Did you see what’s happening in Florida, John?

Governor Ron DeSantis is demanding a redo of the 2020 Census to “award Florida what we’re entitled to.” You guessed it: He wants an additional congressional seat for Republicans.

This is a blatant, out-in-the-open attempt to rig the rules. They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore. DeSantis wants an excuse to do what Texas just did: A mid-decade redraw of their congressional map that will consolidate even more power for the Republican Party — all to make Trump happy.

If we don’t stand up and fight back, this power grab could have enormous consequences in the 2026 midterms and beyond.

Donate to help the NDR PAC hold the line against these radical attacks by Republicans on the census and our democracy. Every dollar you give will go towards stopping these cynical attempts to silence the will of the people. [[link removed]]

DeSantis’s move is just Republicans’ latest attempt to use their power to rig the rules of the game in their favor and lock in unearned power for years to come.

- In Texas, Republicans forced through a map designed to add five congressional seats to their majority, despite sparking national outrage.
- Missouri Republicans just called their own special session to redraw their maps against outcry and opposition across the state.
- Indiana Republican legislators were summoned to the White House, where they were pressured to follow suit and secure more seats through their own mid-decade gerrymander.

It couldn’t be clearer: Republicans know they can’t win power fair and square in 2026, so they’re planning to cheat their way into power instead. In fact, Republicans like DeSantis think they’re “entitled” to it.
