John,

Minnesotans are feeling the pain of rising energy costs, but instead of investing in solutions, Congressional Republicans are advancing legislation that would actively make the problem even worse.

In the Energy and Water Appropriations bill passed in committee just last week, Republicans propose slashing existing investments in high-wage, clean-energy jobs that drive innovation and lower energy bills for Americans. The bill would also cut the Weatherization Assistance Program, a program helping Minnesotans lower their utility bills by weatherizing their homes. These cuts are simply bad for Minnesota.

Not only will these cuts cause economic hardship, but they are also undermining our ability to respond to the climate crisis. Future generations will pay the highest cost of Republicans’ cuts and failure to act on climate change.

Minnesotans need to know the impact of the cuts Republicans are going through with. That’s why I’ve penned an op-ed about the impacts of this bill in the Minnesota Star Tribune.

As your representative, I fight every day to lower energy costs and defend critical investments in homegrown clean and sustainable energy. We cannot afford to do anything less — because the pocketbooks and futures of Minnesotans depend on it.

Can I count on you to chip in today so I can continue fighting in Congress to lower costs and create a brighter future for our children and grandchildren?
