Jimmy Gomez is more focused on political opportunism, and it shows.

Justice Democrats

John,

Last week, Justice Democrats made our second endorsement of the 2026 cycle: Angela Gonzales-Torres. Angela is running for Congress in California’s 34th district — right in the heart of Los Angeles.

This is a primary challenge, and Angela is taking on incumbent Rep. Jimmy Gomez: a sell-out, corporate-backed, do-nothing Democrat.

In a moment, we’re going to explain why Angelenos deserve better than their current representative. But first, will you split $5 to help Angela unseat Jimmy?

Here’s why we’re getting involved in this primary race:

As the daughter of a deportee, Angela is a born-and-raised, working-class Angeleno who understands this community’s most pressing issues because she’s lived through them. Jimmy, on the other hand, went to Washington D.C. and shut the door behind him, leaving his community behind. He is an establishment Democrat in a young, deep blue seat, but fails to fight for his community with the heart and courage they deserve.

CA-34 is suffering under Jimmy’s watch. This district has some of the highest instances of eviction notices served in all of Los Angeles, is one of the poorest communities in California, and is in the poorest 20% of all Congressional districts nationwide.

While his constituents struggle to get by, Jimmy has gladly taken checks from corporate and billionaire-funded Super PACs. While Angelenos are facing a historic housing crisis, he is raking in contributions from the real estate and investment banking lobbies, and looking the other way.

Jimmy secured an A rating from the cryptocurrency industry and has voted repeatedly to loosen regulations on Crypto — votes that only greenlight Donald Trump’s crypto corruption and make Trump billions of dollars richer, while putting everyday Americans at financial risk.

He also received $2.3 million from the far-right megadonor-funded lobby group, AIPAC, just last cycle — and as a result, has failed to sign onto the Block the Bombs Act, to sign on to the only bill calling for a ceasefire in Congress, or to push for an end to the genocide in Gaza.

During Jimmy’s two terms in Congress, rents have risen, critical environmental cleanups still haven’t happened, and too many Angelenos are still having to work two and three jobs just to make ends meet. He is a corporate Democrat who has sold out his community for PAC checks, and Los Angeles deserves better.

Angela is the working-class candidate committed to taking on the status quo and actually delivering for her fellow Angelenos. But taking on an incumbent is a tough, expensive task — and that’s why it’s so critical we can show her we have her back.

Pitch in whatever you can afford to fuel Justice Democrats and Angela’s campaign to win this competitive primary and build our progressive, working-class movement in Congress!
