We are experiencing “the emergence of a new era of Mankind, an era of peaceful cooperation based on the rapid economic development of each and every nation on the planet,” Helga Zepp-LaRouche stated last week in herweekly webcast. <[link removed]>

The results of the two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin, China, coupled with the Sept. 3 commemoration in Beijing of the 80th anniversary of the defeat of fascism in the Pacific in World War II, have ushered in that new era.

The expanded SCO and BRICS now represent a total of 38 countries, whose combined population is about 6 billion people, or 75% of Mankind’s total population of 8 billion. They have proclaimed an end to 500 years of colonial exploitation, run today by the financial centers of London and Wall Street, and the intention of that Global Majority to create a “path of peaceful development, and join hands with the rest of the world to build a community with a shared future for humanity,” as Chinese President Xi Jinping stated in his brief address to the 80th anniversary commemoration. “Humanity rises and falls together,” Xi stressed.

The big question is: Will the Western world join in this effort to forge a new system, or will it choose the path of confrontation and war to defend the old? 

A new statement released last week by the Schiller Institute for immediate international circulation poses the question in the following way:

Thus, the world has reached an absolute turning point. We can either continue the geopolitical confrontation against Russia and China, risking a third—and this time final—world war, or we can choose to cooperate with this emerging new economic system.... It is in the fundamental self-interest of the nations of the Collective West—no longer truly united—to cooperate with the states of the Global Majority and to jointly address the great challenges facing humankind: overcoming poverty and underdevelopment, ensuring lasting world peace, and securing the right of every person on this planet to fulfill their potential.



In the coming days, the UN General Assembly will be convening, presenting an important opportunity to take urgent actions to stop the genocide in Palestine. Among these are UN Resolution 377, known as "Uniting for Peace." One important demonstration <[link removed]> in this regard will take place in front of the UN in New York on Monday, Sept. 15.

However, this larger strategic perspective will be crucial to changing the political dynamics needed to stop the ongoing genocide. The forces of the decadent and arrogant West which have condoned it must be recruited into this new system, not only for the sake of Palestinians but for the world as a whole.
