Dear Friend,

Grandparents are so often more than just our parents' parents. They are caregivers, teachers and storytellers. They provide guidance, joy and love — and often more sweets than our parents want us to eat.

Their importance in our lives is just one of the reasons why Alzheimer's disease is so devastating. Millions of grandparents are living with this disease that will take their memories, their independence, their time, their health and, ultimately, their lives. But it's not just a disease of individuals — it affects entire families, including children and grandchildren.

We have seen too many generations impacted by Alzheimer's and other dementia. It's more important than ever for us to stand together in the fight as we provide care and support for families impacted by this disease and advance research into all aspects of Alzheimer's.

Melissa Gloudeman stands with us. After losing her Grandma Joyce to Alzheimer's, Melissa wanted to channel her loss into action. To honor her Grandma Joyce, she started a fundraiser last June to raise money for her local Alzheimer's Association chapter in Wisconsin. It stands as a legacy to her grandmother and fuels our work toward a better future for everyone.

I want to thank you for standing with us as well, and for your dedication to our community.

Together, I am confident that we will one day achieve a cure, so that no family will have to face the pain and loss of Alzheimer's.

If you or your family needs support, the Alzheimer's Association is here for you. For more resources, visit alz.org/Help-Support or call our free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900).

Wishing you the best this Grandparents' Day and every day.

Take care,
