Speaker Mike Johnson shut down the House of Representatives in late July to stop a vote on releasing the Epstein files. A bipartisan committee had voted to subpoena the full records. Subpoenas were approved. The pressure was working. But before the full House could act, Johnson adjourned early and sent everyone home.
Now Congress is back from August recess. But the vote still hasn’t happened. Instead of enforcing the subpoenas, Republican leaders are meeting behind closed doors to rebrand their deeply unpopular tax-and-budget plan. The same plan that slashes food aid, guts Medicaid, and hands tax cuts to the rich is now being sold as the “Working Families Tax Plan.”[1] On top of that, they’re proposing another $2.8 billion cut to the IRS to shield their wealthy donors from basic tax enforcement.[2]
The Epstein files are expected to name some of the most powerful men in America, from politicians to financiers, and media moguls. Donald Trump’s name appears in those files. He once called Epstein “terrific” and sent him a vulgar 50th birthday card. Now Trump’s Justice Department is keeping names redacted and evidence buried. With the tax law they already passed under fire for rewarding the wealthy, it’s no surprise that billionaires’ allies in Congress are stalling the release of files that could expose just how deep that corruption runs.
Demand that Congress stop protecting Epstein’s billionaire allies. Enforce the subpoenas. Release the Epstein files now.
They didn’t hesitate to gut healthcare. They didn’t flinch when cutting food aid to struggling families. They wasted no time pushing another round of permanent tax breaks for billionaires. But when it came time to vote on whether to release the Epstein files, they fled town.
And now that they’re back, the silence is deafening. They are hiding behind rebranded slogans and closed-door meetings. But the truth remains the same. These files are expected to contain evidence of exploitation, abuse, and elite corruption.
The public deserves to know who enabled Epstein and who used him to build their wealth and power.
These billionaires bankrolled Epstein. They used his services to avoid taxes and write the rules that shield themselves from accountability. And now, with new tax legislation and new IRS cuts in play, they are more protected than ever.
This vote must happen. The subpoenas must be enforced. The cover-up must end. Demand Congress release the Epstein Files and stop protecting the wealthy elite.
Let’s expose the truth and hold the powerful accountable.
