Dehumanizing conditions are a stain on our humanity.

John,

Last weekend, I visited with the detainees being held at ICE’s Eloy Detention Center. The conditions were horrific.

I spoke with dozens of people who came to this country seeking asylum and looked to the U.S. as a place of refuge.

A woman who is fighting leukemia hasn’t had proper access to the medical treatment she requires, and is coughing up blood and has lost over 50 pounds due to the medical neglect.

The people within the detention center don’t have access to quality water — the water they’ve been given has chlorine in it and is causing reactions all over their bodies.

They told me of the used underwear they’re forced to wear, causing rampant UTIs. They’ve told me of the racist and retaliatory treatment they’ve received, just for speaking with me on these oversight visits.

These conditions are dehumanizing and are a stain on our society. I refuse to let this continue, but I need your support in this fight. Pitch in today to stand with us as we push back against this authoritarian administration.

Oversight is a part of my job that I don’t take lightly, John. We must uphold due process of law and stand up against human rights abuses.

Thank you for standing with me as we demand change and call for this administration to respect the dignity of detainees.
