Hi John,
Republicans swore that defunding public broadcasting wouldn’t hurt lifesaving emergency alerts.
They lied. Now, rural stations are already feeling the effects of these cuts.
Local radio stations are lifelines. Flood warnings. Tsunami alerts. Pandemic updates. When danger hits, folks don’t scroll social media or refresh The New York Times home page – they turn on the local radio.
Stations are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal support, reporters are leaving, and disaster coverage is hanging by a thread.
But Republicans don't care. They were ready to rubber-stamp whatever Trump wanted, so they voted to gut public broadcasting funding. Even though they knew it’d hit their own constituents hardest.
That’s not just reckless. It’s shameful.
And Republicans think no one will notice.
So we have to prove them wrong. Please, will you let me know where you stand by taking my 60-second public broadcasting survey now?
Thanks, John,
