This shouldn’t be controversial: Members of Congress shouldn’t be allowed to trade stocks while they write the rules.
But as we know, many politicians think the rules don’t apply to them. (Refraining from naming names here…) When lawmakers profit from decisions they make, trust in our democracy dies. It’s really that simple.
Public service is supposed to be about helping your community, not about getting rich.
