It was wrong in 1967, and it’s wrong now. 

Let me be crystal clear: This is exactly why I introduced the Stop Trump’s Abuse of Power Act – to prevent any president from deploying the military into our communities without the consent of local or state leaders.

We’ve already seen this authoritarian playbook unfold in D.C. and Los Angeles. Now, Mike Rogers wants to make Detroit next. 

This isn’t about keeping people safe – if it were, Trump wouldn’t have cut hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for public safety. It’s about control, intimidation, and fear. Rogers and Trump are willing to use the military as a political weapon against American citizens. We cannot allow that.
