Dear Jack,
This week I went to Washington DC to do something I love: talk about Mississippi’s successes!
The Magnolia state is among the faster growing states in America right now, having been bottom of the class for decades. Since Tate Reeves became governor, over $40 billion of investment has poured in. Hardly a week goes by without news of another mega investment deal.
Speaking at Americans for Tax Reform, I highlighted how smart public policy implemented by our state’s leaders—flat tax reform in 2022, income tax elimination this year, and labor market reforms in 2021—has helped drive this growth.
But there’s another critical factor: affordable energy.
That’s perhaps why I was especially thrilled to meet Secretary Chris Wright, President Trump’s Energy Secretary, who is championing energy abundance for America.
Under his leadership, the U.S. is prioritizing robust energy production to fuel economic growth, with a strong emphasis on the critical role of oil and natural gas. Secretary Wright has helped America become a leading energy exporter.
He has decisively rolled back the Biden administration’s “economically destructive” net-zero emissions policies and championed the advancement of nuclear power, including innovative small modular reactors.
Wright is also cutting red tape to streamline energy project approvals and eliminating impractical efficiency regulations for electrical appliances.
In the spring next year, MCPP has plans to host one of our Speaker Series lunches that will look in more detail at energy policy and how energy is becoming such an American success story.
Karoline Leavitt, White House spokeswoman and Howard Lutnick, US Secretary of Commerce.
It is good to see leaders at both the state and federal level implementing policies that prioritize growth and prosperity.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Ps. My good friend (and God father to my daughter) Lord Daniel Hannan is speaking in Jackson in a few weeks. There are still a handful of places available – please come and listen to what he has to say! Click here for the last remaining tickets ([link removed])
