Special Vashon Water Taxi service will bring riders to Waterfront Park celebration
There’s going to be a celebration on the Seattle Waterfront on Saturday, September 6, and the King County Water Taxi is making sure people on Vashon can join the party! The Vashon Water Taxi will be sailing all day long that Saturday.
“People from across the region enjoyed special weekend water taxi service to the Vashon Strawberry Festival back in July, and now it’s time for Vashon residents to have easy access to all the fun on the Seattle Waterfront this Saturday,” said Metro General Manager Michelle Allison.
Friends of Waterfront Park and the City of Seattle are hosting an all-day Grand Opening Celebration for Waterfront Park. There will be performers, exhibits and food throughout the 20 acres of waterfront.
The Vashon Water Taxi will be sailing between the Vashon Ferry Terminal and downtown Seattle’s Pier 50, where everyone can walk or roll to the festivities:

The water taxi’s sailings are coordinated with the schedules of Metro Routes 118/119 for easy transfers on Vashon Island. There will be no bus service to or from the Vashon Ferry terminal for the last sailing to Vashon and the return trip to Pier 50.
“This has been a great summer of service for the Vashon Water Taxi,” said Metro Marine Director Terry Federer. “This is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to riders in Vashon and Seattle who have been taking advantage of the midday service and giving everyone the opportunity to spend the day celebrating in Seattle or relaxing in Vashon.”
As of September 1, water taxi fares to Vashon are $7.00 for adults ($6.75 with an ORCA card). Passengers 18 and under ride free. Reduced fares are available for people with disabilities and people with lower incomes and seniors.

Don’t get tackled by traffic, ride transit to root on the Seahawks!
The 2025 Seattle Seahawks are ready to take flight! Sam Darnold is set to throw darts; Leonard Williams is planning on collecting a sack or 10 and Coach Mike McDonald is anxious to unleash a wave that will overwhelm those who dare to go onto the Lumen Field turf!
The Hawks will celebrate 50 years of football with games against the Saints, Bucs, Colts and of course that football team from San Francisco. Take that energy you’ll use driving and parking and save it to cause an illegal motion or two. Leave it to Metro to get you to and from the game: our buses are faster than Kenneth Walker in the open field!
Riding to Lumen
We’ve got a page that is your one-stop shop on taking transit to Lumen.
Start your game day by planning your trip to the game by using Trip Planner and Text for Departures (text your bus stop number to 62550)
If you’re coming north or south, Metro and Link light rail are a combo equal to Darnold to Kupp! We have buses that’ll take you to the light rail stops along the 1 Line.
Coming over from the Eastside? In partnership with Sound Transit, there are three routes (Sound Transit Routes 545, 550 and 554) that will provide additional post-game service to the Eastside.
We also have a map that can help ensure you “escape the rush” as you make your way into Pioneer Square for kickoff.
Click on image to see a larger version of the map.
You don’t want to miss seeing the “12 Flag” raised, so be sure to use your ORCA Card to help board quickly. Don’t have an ORCA Card yet? Download the Transit Go App on your mobile device for express boarding. Remember, Hawks fans 18 and younger ride to the game for free.
Don’t get caught with a “Delay of Game.” BE TRUE TO THE BLUE and take Metro to root on the Hawks!!
