I will be hosting an in-person Town Hall on Saturday, September 13th from 11am -12pm CT. As usual, I will provide an update on my work in Congress, discuss the services my office can provide, and answer your questions.

Roundtable with AFGE Local 3669 & 1969
Earlier this month, the Trump Administration's policies led to the termination of VA union contracts, leaving workers and the veterans they serve vulnerable. I joined Senator Amy Klobuchar in hosting members of AFGE Locals 3669 and 1969 to hear directly from VA workers about how Congress can support them as they continue caring for our veterans. Unions protect workers’ rights, advocate for better wages and benefits, and ensure safe working conditions. Collective bargaining gives employees a voice, and now more than ever, that voice matters. I will continue to stand with VA employees and advocate for their work protections, ensuring that veterans receive the care they deserve.
YWCA Silver Sneakers
I joined the Silver Sneakers Cardio class for seniors at the YWCA, a program designed to help older adults maintain cardiovascular health, strength, agility, and coordination. Programs like Silver Sneakers are critical for promoting healthy aging, preventing chronic conditions, and supporting independence for seniors in our community. After the class, I spoke with participants about the importance of accessible, well-funded senior health and wellness programs. These conversations are a vital part of shaping policies that ensure older adults have the resources and support they need to stay healthy.
2025 Southside Heroes Hall Unveiling
I was honored to attend the 2025 Southside Heroes Hall Unveiling at Sabathani Community Center. We celebrated people who have shaped South Minneapolis. The event highlighted the legacies of Black leaders whose work continues to uplift and strengthen our community.
I was humbled to be recognized for my work in Congress, which has included securing over $54 million in community project funding for our district. Other inductees were Pete Rhodes III & Kimberly Bedell Rhodes, Dr. Ralph Crowder, Doris Hines, and Ed Solomon. It was a powerful reminder of the voices, stories, and contributions that continue to shape the heart of South Minneapolis.
Meeting with the University of Minnesota Student Government
I met with the University of Minnesota Student Government President and Vice President to hear directly from young leaders about the issues that matter most to students on campus. These conversations are invaluable as I push for policies that expand access to affordable education, support student well-being, and ensure every young person has the tools they need to succeed. I’m grateful for their leadership and advocacy, and I look forward to continuing to uplift the priorities of Minnesota’s students in my legislative work.
