Dear John,

Over the last month, I have been fighting to protect the voting rights of Californians, to ensure the 2026 midterm elections are free and fair, and to ultimately push back on President Trump and Republicans' costly and cruel policy agenda.

As you may know, California has recently undertaken a mid-decade redistricting effort to offset attempts by conservatives to rig congressional maps in their favor, including in states like Texas, Missouri, Indiana and Florida. However, unlike these other states, the California Legislature’s action protects the Voting Rights Act, supports nonpartisan redistricting nationwide and ultimately, California voters will decide at the ballot box whether our state moves forward with this process.

President Trump's policies cannot go without an immediate response from Democrats, which is why the California Legislature chose to move forward with a ballot measure on mid-decade redistricting in California.
