DNR Monitoring Manure Spill In Taylor County

""Trappers Creek, A Tributary To The Black River, Impacted ""

*
MADISON, Wis.* – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is responding to a recently reported manure spill in Taylor County. The spill impacted Trappers Creek, a tributary to the Black River, with dead fish observed in the creek.

The spill happened earlier this week, and department staff continue to monitor the situation. The department was first notified of the spill on Friday, Sept. 5, via the DNR’s Violation Hotline [ [link removed] ].

The department is working with Taylor County Land Conservation Department and a local farmer to determine what caused the spill. The extent of the spill’s impact is still being evaluated, and opportunities for cleanup or mitigation are being assessed.

No other information is available at this time and department staff are unavailable for interviews on this specific incident.
