Fighting for Ratepayers, Protecting Taxpayers

John,

This week, Governor Mike Braun is taking on the rising utility costs that hit
Hoosier families hardest. He’s putting consumers first, pushing back on
repeated rate hikes, and making clear that it’s time for utilities’ investors
to carry more of the load—not hardworking families.

At the same time, Indiana earned another big win on the financial front. Our
state once again secured a AAA credit rating, placing us among the very best in
the nation. That means lower costs for taxpayers, a stronger economy, and proof
that discplined conservative leadership is delivering results.

As always, thank you for being a part of our team. Please feel free to reach
out if there's anything I can assist with.

Lana Keesling, Indiana GOP Chairwoman

Governor Braun Takes Action to Protect Hoosier Ratepayers

Governor Mike Braun announced Abby Gray as Indiana’s new Utility Consumer
Counselor and directed the office to review utility company profits and
identify cost-saving measures to reduce the burden on ratepayers. Citing
repeated rate hikes, Governor Braun said utilities’ investors should bear more
of the costs of doing business rather than Hoosier families. Gray, a longtime
public servant, said she is honored to continue advocating for consumers in her
new role.

"Hoosiers have been burdened with utility rate increase after increase. We
can’t take it anymore. I am directing the Utility Consumer Counselor, who is
Indiana’s ratepayer advocate, to evaluate utilities’ profits along with other
cost savings measures to ease the burden on ratepayers. I would also like to
see the utilities' investors bear more of the cost of doing business."

Indiana Earns AAA Credit Rating 15 Years in a Row

Governor Braun announced that Indiana has maintained a AAA credit rating from
all three major agencies, S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch, placing the state among only
14 nationwide with the highest possible rating. The achievement saves taxpayer
dollars through lower borrowing costs while supporting investments in
infrastructure, education, and public services. Governor Braun emphasized that
Indiana’s strong financial position ensures resilience during downturns and
keeps the state competitive in attracting jobs and growth.

"Indiana’s AAA rating is more than a financial milestone; It’s a signal to
taxpayers, investors, and businesses that our state is well-managed, fiscally
responsible, and focused on delivering growth for Hoosiers throughout the
State.”
