 Brookside Center Available to Rent this Fall and into 2026
Did you know that Hurst has a community center available for rent exclusively to Hurst residents? The event venue accommodates up to 200 guests, has a fully-equipped kitchen available, a beautiful patio, and ample parking. The City provides the event space, and the renters handle the event's setup, teardown, and cleanup.
Proceeds from this venue are used for renovations, some of which are wrapping up soon! We’re proud to offer this venue to our community and provide an excellent option for hosting a variety of events. Several fall dates have recently opened up and 2026 currently has availability.  Free Landfill Day for Hurst Residents
September 13 | 7 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Arlington Landfill 800 Mosier Valley Rd. Euless, TX 76040
The City of Hurst contracts with Republic Services to allow Hurst residents free access to the Arlington Landfill on the second Saturday of each month, beginning in February and running through November, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location: 800 Mosier Valley Rd, Arlington, TX. 817-354-2300 (Scale house) or 817-354-2305. This access will be granted to Hurst residents to dispose of any non-hazardous materials for free.
ACCEPTED ITEMS: Any non-hazardous bulk items such as scrap metal, loose brush, old fencing material or other debris (no commercial). Electronic equipment recycling, including computers, TVs, DVD players, and cell phones.
NOT ACCEPTED ITEMS: Tires & explosives. Construction materials, such as shingles and sheetrock. No more than six (6) fence panels will be accepted, unless a valid fence permit is shown for the address. Brick and rock need to be containerized. Compressed gas. Pharmaceuticals or sharps.
Residents must present their current driver's license or photo identification AND current Hurst water bill.
Service does not include the disposal of hazardous waste or non-compact-able waste.

Fire Open House
September 27 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Fire Station 1 2100 Precinct Line Rd. Hurst, TX 76054
Join us for our annual Fire Department Open House at Fire Station 1! At our fun and safe family-friendly open house, we show demonstrations on what a firefighter job looks like, have activities for kids, and various firefighter equipment on display. Local businesses and medical facilities will also be there passing out information and goodies. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

 Kid's Triathlon
September 20 | 7:30–9 a.m. Chisholm Park 2200 Norwood Dr. Hurst, TX 76054
This event is a free and fun twist on the traditional triathlon that gives kids ages 5-12 the opportunity to bike the path around Chisholm Aquatics Center (roughly .6 miles), run a short course (roughly .25 miles), and finish off by enjoying our slip-and-slide and foam party!

 Fall Classes at the Hurst Recreation Center
Join us this fall at the Hurst Recreation Center for a variety of creative and engaging classes! We offer different programs for all ages, so there’s something for the whole family. From high-energy dance and sports to colorful art and Broadway-inspired fun, our fall lineup is designed to spark creativity, build new skills, and keep kids moving. Whether your child loves to paint, perform, or play, there’s a class waiting for them to explore!

Open to all, this event features 60 vendors offering a wide array of unique items, including jewelry, home decor, clothing, toys, and more. Many of the vendors are talented HSAC members showcasing their hand-crafted creations, alongside other local business owners from the community. Whether you’re looking for one-of-a-kind gifts or something special for yourself, you’ll find it here. Plus, enjoy delicious concessions available as you shop.  National Night Out
Plan a block party on October 7, 2025 for National Night Out! National Night Out is designed to:
- Emphasize community members getting to know each other and taking a vested interest in the security of their neighborhood
- Promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie
- Generate support and participation for local anti-crime programs
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
