Email from Rep. Hinson Friend, As President Trump continues to deliver on his America First agenda, we are building upon his work to permanently secure the border and deport every single illegal immigrant to restore safety in our communities. But over the past few months, there has been a 700% increase in assaults against ICE agents. In cities where law and order have collapsed and criminals face no consequences, America’s courageous ICE agents put their lives on the line every day to uphold the rule of law and protect our citizens from violent criminal illegal aliens. Instead of standing with law enforcement, the radical Left sides with dangerous illegal aliens and even wants to strip ICE agents of the gear that keeps them safe. They also refer to ICE as a “terrorist force." That’s absolutely unacceptable, and I’ve had enough. These agents are real people. They have families they come home to each night. This is the fight between common sense and crazy, Americans first versus illegal aliens first. Anyone who assaults an ICE agent must face the harshest possible punishment. That’s why I am fighting to double the federal penalty for attacks on ICE agents. My new bill, the Protect and Respect ICE Act, provides the necessary deterrence to guard our law enforcement as they carry out President Trump’s law and order agenda. We will never back down in defending our law enforcement, we will never tolerate unhinged assaults on ICE, and we will not stop until every single illegal alien is deported and our communities are safe. I will always stand with law enforcement! Sincerely, Connecting with Iowans in Mitchell and Floyd Counties I had the pleasure of touring the Kittleson Family Farm, located in The Garden Spot of Iowa, where they have been growing quality potatoes and onions for Iowa families and local grocery stores for generations. During my visit, the owners expressed relief that their top tax priorities—enhanced death tax relief and permanently extending 199A tax relief for small businesses—had been signed into law through the Working Families Tax Cuts. Proud to deliver these game-changing wins alongside the Trump Administration. I also recently had a fascinating visit to Zoetis and toured their facility, learning more about their production and the global network their team has built. I’ll continue advocating for incredible businesses like this one so Iowa stays a leader in animal health, feeding and fueling the world. In Case You Missed It: Quick Hits I thanked Senator Ernst for her incredible service to our state and nation—and for her friendship over the years. I made it clear that only those attacking law enforcement should be concerned about tougher penalties for harming ICE agents. I wished a Happy Labor Day to the hardworking Americans who make our nation so great! I praised President Trump for his highest approval rating ever as he cracks down on crime across the nation.
